It’s back – Join us for FortWhyte Alive’s 2017 Eco Adventure Race! Get ready for a true adventure! Travel by foot, bike and boat* and use your orienteering skills to navigate to checkpoints around the southwest part of the city. There is no set running or cycling route for this year’s race, racers will receive race maps with set checkpoints marked 30 minutes before the race start. Wrap up your race day with smokies and s’more over the fire, free for participants. Sunday, June 11 9 am Cost: $50 per racer (regardless of team size) Team Size: Race as individual or in teams of 2, 3, or 4. Divisions: Compete on one of two courses- Beginner: 5 km of walking/running and 15 km of cycling Advanced: 10 km of walking/running and 25 km of cycling *BYOE – Bring Your Own Equipment!: FortWhyte Alive will NOT have rentals available for this event. Boats, PFDs, paddles, helmets, bikes, etc, must be supplied by participants. *The boating checkpoints on this race will be optional. You do not need to get them in order to finish the race. Those that DO get the boat points will be ranked above teams that did not. No kayaks, canoes, or hard sided boats will be allowed in the race. Inflatable boats only, known as packrafts, will be your only option. These vary in price from this $20 version up to a $1000 version. Celebrate with us! The Great Trail will also be celebrating the completion of the TransCanada Trail within Manitoba. They will be sponsoring a water station table along the course, with free Clif bars for participants. Please join us at noon on site after the race for a presentation celebrating this wonderful trail (which much of the eco-adventure course will use the day of the race).
