Municipality of East Hants to Open New River Parks along Great Trail

The Municipality of East Hants will officially open two new river parks along the Shubenacadie River. Wickwire Station Park (Milford) and Brickyard Park (Lantz) will join Shubie Park in Shubenacadie as part of the water route section of The Great Trail. The parks offer floating docks, picnic areas, look-off views and a hiking trail. Combined, the Parks make up a 23.5km section of The Great Trail which passes through East Hants.

The Municipality received funding for the project from Trans Canada Trail ($112,500) and provincial partners: Nova Scotia Communities, Culture and Heritage (Recreation Facility Development Grant, $64,500) and Nova Scotia Community Services (Community Access-Ability Program Grant, $10,000 for an accessible washroom facility and walkway to waters’ edge).
