Island Trails, a volunteer organization dedicated to trail improvement and promotion, in cooperation with the Prince Edward Island Department of Tourism and other partners, sponsors a series of public cycling events that take in the full 400+ km of Confederation Trail on the Island.
The events, usually held Saturday mornings in the Spring and Fall, and often on weekday evenings in the Summer, cover 20-25km sections of the trail between cities, towns and villages along the route. Those who attend all of the events receive a Tip-to-Tip certificate at the end of the season.
This year will see a special season finale – the Island East Cycling Event – which will take place during Canada’s Thanksgiving Weekend, Oct. 6-8, 2007.
The ten-dollar registration fee entitles participants to all benefits, including daily transportation for the driver of participants’ vehicles (return to start point), prize draws at the end of each day’s ride, and refreshments at each destination.
Event materials will include trail interpretation guides, trail maps, prize tickets, bottled water, transportation vouchers and other pertinent information, which can be picked up at the registration site on all three days.
Participants under 14 years-of-age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All routes are on the Confederation Trail and certified Trail Officers will accompany the participants for each event.
Accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Island Trails can provide information on local Bed & Breakfast establishments, motels, and campgrounds. You can also check the Accomodation section of the PEI Visitors Guide online.
