Originally from Manitoulin Island, Ontario, and a member of Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve, Emma Mohns moved to Ottawa to attend Carleton University and subsequently the University of Ottawa for her law degree. She now works as a corporate and commercial lawyer at Kinaxis Inc., an innovative Canadian software firm, having previously counselled startups at a leading technology law firm. Prior to her career in law, she worked with the Department of Global Affairs developing programs to promote diversity, and with the Waubetek Business Development Corporation establishing a program to provide Indigenous youth work experience in local businesses.
Keen to help out in the community, Emma has been a member of the Odawa Aboriginal Community Justice Programme since its inaugural meeting in 2010, and volunteers with various local charities and organizations. She loves the Trail for its immaculate running paths in Ottawa and waterfront hiking along the North Channel.
Emma joined the Trans Canada Trail Board in 2017.
